New Vampire Thriller Reverberations Concludes a Major Arc in McPherson’s Acclaimed Bloodbound Series

[Harvest, AL – April 13, 2025] — Queer fiction author Chase McPherson returns with Bloodbound 5: Reverberations, the fifth novel in his acclaimed supernatural saga. A genre-bending blend of espionage, body horror, and dark romance, Reverberations raises the stakes with a dual-timeline mystery that uncovers the darkest secrets of its central characters.

Set across two dimensions — the known world and its eerie, alternate twin — Reverberations explores what happens when memory, power, and identity are all in question. At its heart is a polyamorous triad navigating supernatural abilities and emotional trauma as they work to unravel a murder that could end their lives — and fracture The Order forever.

“I wanted to tell a story about surviving trauma when the world demands silence,” McPherson says. “Reverberations is about trust, transformation, and loving through the blood and bone of it all.”

The Bloodbound series has been praised for its unflinching portrayal of mental health, queer identity, and found family. With Reverberations, McPherson cements his reputation as one of indie speculative fiction’s most fearless voices.

Bloodbound 5: Reverberations releases September 2, 2025 and will be available via Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Smashwords, IngramSpark, and other major retailers. Visit https://books2read.com/Bloodbound5 to see a frequently updated list of retailers stocking the book.

Series context

The Bloodbound series follows Hunter Reeves, a young man turned vampire by an undercover agent in the wake of a violent encounter — only to discover his own latent demonic bloodline. Each book in the series blends espionage, queer romance, supernatural horror, and psychological realism. Reverberations serves as both a climax to the current arc and a bridge to future volumes, resolving long-standing mysteries while unveiling new threats.

Suggested interview questions/responses

  • What inspired the two-realm structure of Bloodbound?

    • Lately I've been fascinated by this self-imposed question: What if twins (or multiple births) aren't supposed to happen in our world? What if different versions of a person are meant to live in other alternate realms and timelines? That fed the idea that our demon-vampire hybrids have the capability of traversing dimensions.

  • Why was it important to you to center a polyamorous relationship in a supernatural series?

    • As a person open to the concept of polyamory, I wanted to convey my personal belief that such a relationship structure can be healthy so long as there's a foundation of trust and mutual respect. I believe we all have the capacity to love more than one person, in various degrees of intensity and emotion.

  • Reverberations deals with trauma, therapy, and mental health — how do you approach those themes as a writer?

    • Mental illness feeds on silence. That's something I've learned in my own mental health journey and something I wish to drive home to the reading audience - withholding your honest feelings can do nothing but hurt yourself and those around you.

  • How does your background in journalism shape your fiction writing?

    • Working in local journalism for a combined eleven years taught me how to 'front-load,' or how to grab attention right from the headline. But sometimes a press release or a breaking news situation leaves unanswered questions compelling the reporter to probe deeper. I hope what I've learned during my time telling local stories for the community has informed my skills in dropping tantalizing hints and plot twists in the fiction I now focus on.

  • What’s next for the Bloodbound series — or beyond?

    • It's taken just over two years to complete this first major story arc for Bloodbound. I've left a major "big bad" standing, which might need to be resolved. I have an entire alternate version of Dallas and a world beyond its borders to explore. There's a lot of territory and an unlimited number of hazards and foes for our main characters to encounter. Time will only tell.
